Call of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Black Ops Discussion only. Off-Topic posts will be deleted!
Couldn't find a thread for this...scald me if there's one found.
Anyway,I'm really looking forward to this on all consoles this year. Having largely ignored the hype this year (Due to incessant annoyance from COD fan boys for the past three years),I picked up on it this week. I'm glad I did,as it's really intriguing.
The story looks like it's going to be a welcome change from the typical World War 2 setting Treyarch have covered before. It'll allow for a bit more creativity and openness,I'd say. Zombie mode is back in,with players controlling John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara or Fidel Castro in the oval office. Deadly.
And last but certainly not least (considering I'm picking it up on Wii),is the fact that Treyarch basically addressed everything that is shitty about Nintendo's online system and delivered a game that has virtually everything the HD console versions have. Co-op zombies online,a head-set for voice chat, and even text messaging recent contacts without a friend code. Why hasn't this happened before?
In any case, hopefully the zombie mode is as addictive as the first map they had on WaW. Wouldn't mind flaking in front of the x-box with the bois trying to reach level 24 all over again. 'cause let's face it,if there's one thing the Wii version is gonna be without,it's splitscreen multiplayer

I've pretty much ignored it too considering I won't have money for it, but everyone is talking about how great it is so I'm starting to think I'll have to buy it.

My brother is going up to smyths at midnight to get it on the night it comes out. Personally I don't care about it but if the zombie mode has local coop I'll play that.

Truth right there and its gonna be hyped by game reviewers aswell and given mostly positive reviews and no doubt will be as glitchy as mw2. Might get it when it goes down in price but i might be waiitng a long time cod4 is still fucking 50 euro in most shops

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
In fairness,WAW topped both modern warfare games for me. I preferred the campaign, and the addition of Nazi Zombies was just a master stroke. I have high hopes of this one bettering both MW games, too.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Kinda in two minds about this.
One one hand Treyarch seem to be doing a lot of things right.Removing some of the more annoying perks, nerfing quickscoping, adding zombie mode, training mode with bots and the new match types sound cool
On the other hand it's still a Call of Duty game
I'll probably still end up getting it though

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I'll be hitting tesco first as they have had cheap deals on fallout vegas halo:reach and Fable 3 during the first few days after launch.
I wasn't gonna get this straight away as I have kinect pre-ordered and I have to finish fable3 and vanquish but I heard its 3D compatible so that should be interesting, however the res on 3D is supposed to be woeful, but if tesco have it for €35 I will pick it up

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Somehow ended up buying this today for PC. And so the slow decline of socializing begins...
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Picked up a copy for myself and another for my bro, who is away until monday.
Got them in Tesco for 43.95 each. Tesco had a pallet of them(both 360 and ps3) at the door. lol
My bro rang me today and when i told him what it was selling for in tesco he asked me to pick him up a copy.He said Game in Malaga had it for sale for €75. The spanish are getting ripped
Tesco deals only last a couple of days, a week at the most, then it will be 54.99
Picking up kinect in the morning and i have a day at the hospital. I wonder if tesco will have that cheap lol

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
The brother is getting this game. I might just play the SP but I am going to touch the MP.
I'm going to stick with good old TF2.

Pretty positive so far.Single player is your standard CoD campaign really.Non-stop action, shit blowing up all over the place etc. It's better than MW2 though imo although lengthwise it's about the same
Only played a bit of the multiplayer. Not a huge change from previous CoD titles but the removal of certain perks/killstreaks like commando has definitely made a difference.Got to play it more and get to know the maps better.Haven't played zombie mode yet but if anyone wants to play some multiplayer or zombies let me know
Oh there's also 2 hidden bonus games accessible from the start menu. One is Dead Ops Arcade,a top down twin stick shooter and the other is Zork,a classic text adventure game. Here's how to access them

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Really loving the single player so far. Much darker and more intense than the IW efforts. Story is really engaging me as well, which is a first for a COD game.
No impressions of the multiplayah so far, it seems fairly broken for the PC. Hopefully twill' get patched soon.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Played through the campaign the other night witt my friends. It wasn't great.. just a typical COD game really.
We played 4 player quite a lot though. Felt really knew despite how much we played all the other ones. Never bothered to see if we could do a sytem link and have 8 of us playing though. That'll be fun on Christmas day if we can.
