Game To Sell Xbox 360 DLC and XBLA In-Store

Xbox Live Arcade titles and downloadable content now on sale in 40 stores nationwide.

UK retailer Game Group has begun a six-month trial period selling Xbox 360 downloadable content in 40 of its stores.

MCV reports that the retailer is selling DLC codes to expand its audience to those that don’t have access to credit cards. In addition to DLC, shoppers can also buy Xbox Live Arcade titles.

While Xbox Live points cards have of course been available for some time, DLC and XBLA purchases will be individually, specifically priced, subject to PEGI ratings and can be part-funded by trade-ins.

Game Group commercial strategy director Tricia Brennan said: “We know that lots of customers want to play downloadable games and they look to us, as expert retailers, for advice on the best way to do it. We’ve listened to them and worked with Microsoft to provide the answers. From today it will be much easier to buy downloadable games as they will be able to buy digital games in cash for under a fiver."

“We’re excited to offer this program to UK consumers as we see this as an innovative opportunity to work with GAME in delivering Xbox 360 owners yet another highly attractive choice at retail,” added Microsoft UK’s Neil Thompson.

Wonder if they'll include Irish stores in this.Would be handy to be able to buy a game without having to buy a 2100 point card

The lads on inside xbox - Sent u a message - read out one of the questions i sent to them over twitter - They edited the question and the answer was a little vague but still, my twitter name is @EW360IRL

Funny as i just use twitter to follow a handful of companies and gaming news feeds etc, so nobody i know who has watched the video knew i sent the message.

I cant find the video online but i am sure someone on youtube will post it soon. I will post a link when i find one

Odd, It hasnt downloaded for me yet.
I think they are trying to consolidate the look of WP7, Xbox and Windows 8 desktop and tablet editions, metro etc .
I will get back with my opinion when I get the new dash.

Are you using kinect with it?

Nah don't have Kinect.I dunno it just seems very cluttered compared to the old one.It'll just take a few days to get used to it I suppose

I actually like the new dashboard. It's pretty cool telling the xbox what to do with ur voice.

Some bits of the dash look nice, but the actual interface is muck! It's clearly optimised for Kinect, and that should be an option in settings, not a mandatory update. :/

Hi i have a 2 day xbox live code here for anybody who wants it. I found it in the press. It was never used but could be out of date as i read some where one time that they go out of date. Maybe they don't go out of date who knows. but dont be disappointed if you enter the code and dont get the free pass. Nobody ever used it as i scratched it just now. Reply here if you want it and i will PM you the code, if nobody wants it it will go up on boards.

I don't think it's just the new dash(which I still hate btw cheers MS).The offers just aren't there.Today's offer is Fallout DLC and yesterdays was 2 Kinect games.Neither of them have shown up as special offers and I've searched every inch of the dash Mad

EDIT:Actually today's Fallout deal seems to be available http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Promotion/countdown2012-daily-deal

Still not advertised on the dash mind.You just have to search for each game individually.Still doesn't explain why the other games were never discounted though

So years late to the party as usual I finally got around to getting a HDTV (and frankly I can't believe now that I was content with SD for so long)and I'm using the component cable that came with the 360.I have a couple of questions

1)Is it worth it getting a HDMI cable?Is there a significant difference between HDMI and Component on the 360?

2)Will any HDMI cable do?By this I mean will a cheap cable do the same job as a more expensive one if I do get one?

Any help would be much appreciated

Yep it's definitely worth getting the cable. As far as I know all of them do the exact same job, so I'd go with as cheap as you can find. Razz
